From studies and analyses to policy documents, toolkits, stakeholder engagement guides and smart practices, the Road-STEAMer project develops a wealth of useful material in STEAM education and policy with an emphasis in using art and creativity elements to deliver the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics curriculum.
Developed in collaboration with the sister projects SENSE and The SEER, this document contains joint policy recommendations outlining actions to foster inclusive, innovative, and transdisciplinary STE(A)M education across Europe. The recommendations emphasize collaboration among schools, industry, and communities, aiming to empower learners as agents of change in tackling real-world challenges and call for EU institutions, Member States, and educational organizations to create supportive frameworks.
Stemming from deliverable D3.3, this focused two-page document contains the key policy recommendations of the Road-STEAMer project, offering actionable insights to strengthen interdisciplinary STEAM education, promote innovation, and guide policymakers, educators, and stakeholders in shaping a more inclusive and future-ready learning ecosystem.
This article, recently published in the Creativity and Educational Innovation Review, explores the transformative potential of STE(A)M education as a socially innovative approach to making STEM education more inclusive and creativity-driven. It draws on findings from the EU-funded Road-STEAMer project, which seeks to close gaps in STEM education by integrating artistic and creative methodologies while fostering inclusivity.
Effective STEM/STEAM practices are frequently overlooked following their implementation or upon the conclusion of funded projects. Within the framework of the Road-STEAM project, Ecsite is supporting STE(A)M practitioners engaged in developing such initiatives, by creating a concise guide on sustaining STEAM practices. This guide emphasises strategies for exploitation and sustainability through targeted activities and innovative approaches.

This infographic outlines a set of criteria the Road-STEAMer project has identified to map and analyse STEAM practices in Europe. Equity was identified as an underlying principle and value that supports all STEAM practice and is therefore an all-pervading criterion. The key criteria identified were Collaboration, Disciplinary inter-relationships, Thinking-making-doing, Creativity, Real-world connection, and Inclusion / Personalisation / Empowerement.
