This article highlights the transformative potential of STE(A)M education as a socially innovative approach to making STEM more inclusive and creativity-driven. Drawing on findings from the EU-funded Road-STEAMer project and the DOIT programme, it demonstrates how STE(A)M education enhances creativity, self-efficacy, and interdisciplinary problem-solving skills while promoting diversity and equity in STEM fields. The study calls for stronger policy support, expanded educator training, and inclusive frameworks to prepare students for the demands of an evolving workforce, positioning STE(A)M as a vital tool for addressing educational gaps and societal challenges.

Road-STEAMer is excited to announce a significant event on STE(A)M education policy, practices and funding, taking place at Panteion University in Athens on 14 January 2025.
STEAM educational approaches can greatly benefit the development of digital skills. Drawing on Road-STEAMerโs preliminary results, our latest policy brief "Time for Bold Choices" outlines the main tenets of a STEAM framework, provides practical examples of what works well, and suggests ways in which STEAM can be mainstreamed in the EUโs Digital Education Action Plan and other policies aimed at boosting digital skills.
Elisabeth Unterfrauner and Claudia Magdalena Fabian from ZSI argue that including the โAโ standing 'artsโ and creative approaches in STEM education and transforming it to STEAM education can have the desired effect: making education more inclusive, increasing scientific understanding, and fostering a positive attitude towards science, and developing skills needed for facing a world with complex challenges.
We invite educators, researchers, game designers, and creative professionals to participate in a three-hour workshop titled "Video Games in STEAM and as STEAM: Learning and Innovating Through Play." This workshop presents a playful opportunity to explore how the principles of STEAM can be integrated with innovative game design to create engaging and educational experiences.
