As the Road-STEAMer project enters its final phase in 2025, we continue to explore meaningful opportunities to extend our mission: building inclusive, transdisciplinary STEAM education ecosystems across Europe. In this spirit, we want to highlight a new initiative that strongly aligns with our values: the Education for Climate Call 2025.
Launched by the Education for Climate Coalition, this annual call supports the development of bottom-up community actions that empower learners and educators to take part in the green transition through education. With a focus on co-creation, innovation, and climate resilience, the 2025 call offers a platform for schools, organisations, and education practitioners to develop and implement climate education solutions together.
Why It Resonates with Road-STEAMer
The Road-STEAMer project has championed the importance of integrating science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) in ways that are both locally relevant and socially impactful. As real-world connections is one of the main criteria identified within our project’s framework, the Education for Climate Call encourages collaboration across disciplines and sectors, aiming to equip learners with the skills, creativity, and systems thinking needed to address real-world sustainability challenges.
Several aspects of the Call echo the key principles of Road-STEAMer:
- Community-driven innovation: Both initiatives believe that educators, learners, and local actors are not just participants but co-creators of solutions.
- Action-based learning: The Call supports projects with tangible outcomes, a concept central to Road-STEAMer’s emphasis on hands-on, experiential learning.
- Climate and sustainability focus: Road-STEAMer has promoted STEAM education as a tool to understand and act on environmental issues, a core aim of this new Call.
Who Can Participate?
The Education for Climate Call 2025 is open to all members of the Education for Climate Community, including:
- Teachers and school leaders
- Students and youth organisations
- Policy-makers and researchers
- Civil society and education innovators
Participants can submit action proposals that address climate-related challenges in educational settings, receive support from the community, and potentially be selected for further facilitation and development at the Education for Climate Day 2025.
Let’s Build Synergies
We encourage members of the Road-STEAMer community, and anyone working in STEAM education, to consider submitting a proposal or collaborating on an idea through the Education for Climate platform. This is a chance to extend the legacy of Road-STEAMer, scale up our shared efforts, and connect with a broader network of like-minded educators and changemakers across Europe.
