After having launched the first version of the 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐀𝐌 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐦𝐚𝐩 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞 , the Road-STEAMer project is looking for feedback and further insights from you.

The roadmap is an interactive document, based on extensive consultations and co-creation with stakeholders, with which Road-STEAMer aims to pave the way towards a more inclusive and imaginative future. This roadmap features a series of recommended actions falling into four different priority areas:

  • Strengthening the STEAM curriculum at national and EU level
  • Enhancing teacher training and the learning environment
  • STEAM literate citizens: aligning STEAM education and career design with societal and industrial needs
  • Transdisciplinary, effective inclusive STEAM education paradigms promoting equity

Each recommended action includes a suggested EU funding instrument and timeframe for implementation, as well as best practice example(s) and notes on policy alignment.

What’s next?

We are now opening up the roadmap for contributions and insights from all stakeholders involved in STEAM education at various levels, such as educators and school administrators, researchers, artists, policymakers, learners and their parents, civil society groups, and citizens more broadly.  We particularly value comments on feasibility as well as additional examples of good practices for the recommendations to be incorporated in the final version of the Roadmap to be released in July.

Contributing to this process is as easy as 1 – 2 – 3:

  1. First, familiarise with the interactive Roadmap, finding the recommended actions in the matrix – priority areas on the horizontal axis, EU funding instruments on the vertical axis. Click on the recommended actions to expand them and view the full content.
  2. When viewing a recommendation, click on “Provide feedback and suggestions on the portal” on the bottom right of each text box to access the Road-STEAMer Community of Practice Suite, our participatory platform where you will see other users’ comments, and you will be able to leave your own.
  3. If it’s your first time on our Community of Practice platform, you will need to register with a valid email address (don’t forget to click on the confirmation email). You will now be able to leave comments and endorsements. All comments are welcome, but we particularly encourage you to reflect on feasibility and/or suggesting additional best practices and funding schemes.

After leaving feedback on one recommended action, you can go back to the interactive STEAM roadmap, or view all the proposed actions as a list.

What are you waiting for? The roadmap will be open for comments 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥 𝐦𝐢𝐝-𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞!

This is a great opportunity to see how 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐀𝐌 (𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡, 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡) thinking is being embedded into real-world policy and practice. 𝐋𝐞𝐭’𝐬 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐚 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫!
