On 24 April 2025, the Road-STEAMer project participated in a conference hosted by Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, which convened educators, researchers, and policymakers to examine current developments in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education in Ukraine, particularly in the context of European integration.

The conference provided a platform for sharing innovative pedagogical approaches, with particular emphasis on embedding the arts within technical disciplines, enhancing teacher education, and strengthening collaboration across institutions. A recurring theme was the alignment of Ukraine’s educational practices with European frameworks, aiming to better prepare learners for the evolving demands of the global workforce.

A notable moment in the programme was the presentation of the Road-STEAMer project by Ecsite’s Stephanos Cherouvis. He outlined the project’s contribution to broadening the understanding of STEAM education, focusing on its relevance across four key policy domains and exploring strategies for promoting STEAM at local, national, and European levels.

Vasyl Dunets, Deputy Director for Science Centres Development and International Strategic Projects at the National Center “Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine“, affirmed the academy’s active engagement in the Road-STEAMer initiative. He also underscored the valuable role Ukrainian science museums play in advancing STEAM education and their growing importance within the national academic landscape.

Following the conference, participants received comprehensive materials on the Road-STEAMer project to support further engagement and implementation.
